This piece is 22 by 28 inches, acrylic on board. I made it for a show about memories. I feel a strong nostalgia for this particular chess piece and the idea of chess. I searched through dozens of photos of different pieces for the black knight and none of them fit the image I had in my head of what I remembered it looking like so I made my own. I used an image of a real horses head crossed with the back section of a wood carved chess piece. It lends a surreal look to the piece. Maybe in the future I'll apply this surreal mixing to other pieces.
