About this Artwork

This is a Supermarine Spitfire FR-XIV (MV-293), she is owned by the Fighter Collection and bvased at IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire. Again, she is regularly seen on the UK and European air display circuit, although in different markings to that seen in the painting.

She was built at the Keevil facility in late 1944, and delivered to the RAF in that year. She was struck of charge in 1945 and then delivered to the Indian Air Force in late 1947. She was recovered from India in 1978 and flew again in 1992 with the Fighter Collection as OI-C/MV-293. She was repainted in 2000 as MV-268/JE-J an aircraft flown by Johnnie Johnson.

The painting is completed using acylics and was the first Spitfire painting completed, and certainly not the last!
